Education Outreach

Monroe County Schools recognizes the importance of arts programming and the impact that the arts have on students’ educational performance, attitude and wellbeing.

All productions within the MCFAC have an element of education built-in through student performances or student volunteerism. Students have the opportunity to express themselves on stage as well as learning marketable skills through experience in our box office or backstage.

The MCFAC strives to program professional productions that offer student masterclasses and allow for student technicians to work aside, leading professionals within the entertainment industry. By involving our student body in multiple aspects of production and exposing them to the basics of the entertainment industry, the MCFAC hopes to inspire and ignite a lasting passion for the arts.

The Monroe County Fine Arts Center is proud to serve all schools within The Monroe County Board of Education. Students are exposed to choir, band, theatre, and visual arts programs beginning at the elementary level. The robust arts programs throughout the county rehearse, perform and display visual art throughout the entirety of the school year. Please contact individual schools for more information on school arts programs. For upcoming school performances within the MCFAC, please view our calendar.

“The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic…music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.”   –William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education
